Solhundur Dogs in other homes

We've had the privilege of raising two litters of Icelandic Sheepdogs, for a total of nine puppies.   All of the pups have grown into great companions, who get a lot of time and attention from their owners. Like typical Icelandic Sheepdogs, they actively enjoy life and many of them participate in dog sports.

We're so proud of each pup from our litters!

Ch Solhundur Elska Ljosstjarna  "Elska"

Elska lives on Vancouver Island, B.C. and is a beloved family dog.   She is a great example of the versatility of the Icelandic Sheepdog.  Elska has successfully completed her CKC conformation Championship, and trains in agility and flyball for future competition.  Elska has had one litter of five lovely puppies, under the registered kennel name Eagleisle.

Male Champion Icelandic Sheepdog

Ch Belglen Undri Ari

Ari was bred by Sharon Schaefer, Belglen Icelandic Sheepdogs in Saskatchewan, and co-owned by myself, Sharon and Alisha Johnson for his first 2 years.  Now known as Heart, he is in a full-time training/sports home in Muskoka, Ontario.  As of July 2010 he already has one leg towards his first AAC (Agility Association of Canada) title.  Ari has sired a litter with Elska (Eagleisle 2010 litter) and his first offspring are loveable, friendly pups - totally typical Icelandic Sheepdogs!   We look forward to a future Solhundur litter sired by Ari.

OFA Good Hips (prelim)   *    CERF Normal

From Ari we have a very limited number of breedings available by frozen AI, to approved Icelandic Sheepdog females only.

Longhair Female Icelandic Sheepdog, Black tri-color

Solhundur Friða Tofradis
Disa is owned by Lisa Richards, at Mack Hill Farm in New Hampshire, where she is a full-time farm dog and working companion, just what the Icelandic Sheepdog evolved to be.  Disa is co-owned by Monika Karlsdottir (Iceland) and myself.

Shorthair Red and white Female Icelandic Sheepdog

Solhundur Leika Òskadis

Leika lives in Toronto and enjoys time at the cottage as well.  Leika's owner is of Icelandic descent and Leika has become the popular mascot of the Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto.

Leika has OFA Good Hips and Normal CERF results (June 2010).

Male Icelandic Sheepdog, Icelandic Sheepdog Puppy

Solhundur Galdur Kolgrimur, Herding Instinct Certified "Kona"
Solhundur Tryggur Snarfari "Trek"

Kona and Trek live together with a wonderful family in Ontario.

Gold and white Icelandic Sheepdog

Solhundur Viggo Grettirsson "Viggo"

Viggo lives in Toronto with a very dedicated pair of owners.

Red and white Female Icelandic Sheepdog

Solhundur Signe Grettisdottir "Sigga"

Sigga is the reason we bred our 2009 litter, as Max's owner Maureen really wanted a puppy from Max and Soley, but couldn't take one at the time of the 2007 litter.  Sigga is a sweet and loving companion to Maureen and a great sidekick for her sire, Max.

Black tri-color pied Icelandic Sheepdog

Solhundur Athill Depla Aleiga, HIC   "Skonsa"

Skonsa, also known as Stinky or Stinkerbelle, lives with the Athill Shelties and one Borzoi, on a  country property  near Thunder Bay, Ontario.  Skonsa has thrilled us by taking Best Puppy in Group in a very competitive group of puppies.   She is also the first offspring from our Icelandic Sheepdog litters to achieve her Herding Instinct Certificate from the CKC.
