Frequently asked Questions:
Why are your prices slightly higher than some other walkers?I believed from the onset of our work with dogs and the servies that we offer that it was necessary to ensure honesty and integrity in our dealings not only with our clients, but in following good business practice. I walk enough dogs (more than ~7/day) I am required to charge HST. Thus my prices are somewhat higher than some. Why do you us positive training?I have been with most of my pup clients since there were quite young. Positive training is the best, most fullfilling way to fill those little vessels. Scientific method has determined that when pups are that age, they learn best with positive training methods; and these methods provide a more confident and better socialized pup. How long have you been walking?I've been walking since 2004. In that time, I've helped numerous people raise their pups by providing daily visits. I've helped pups transition successfully to group walks. How many dogs do you walk at a time? The City of Toronto introduced a permit system a few years ago. With this system commercial dog walkers using green spaces are limited to 6 dogs at a time. We walk no more than 5-6 at a time. The system also requires that the walker has commercial insurance as well. Are you trained in Pet First Aid?Yes. I have taken courses in Pet First Aid; as well as this, I worked as an EMT. What is Positive Training?Positive training can be summed up as rewarding the behaviours you like, and ignoring, or redirecting the behavious you don't like. For anyone familiar with phsycology, this translates to Positive Reinforcment (rewarding good stuff) and Negagive Punishment (taking away good stuff/attention for incorrect behaviour). Which parks do you generally use?Depending on the dogs recall and comfort level the parks/areas I use are: Greenwood, Carlaw, Monarch, Kew and Cherry Beaches. How many visits would you recommend for my cat?We generally recommend at least 1 visit a day for cats. How many visits would you recommend for my dog?We recommend usually 2 visits a day for most dogs.

Ask Questions

Finding a good Pet Sitter or Dog walker requires asking a lot of questions. A professional should have insurance and be bonded as well as have Pet First Aid and CPR.  All your questions should be answered to your satisfaction.  Trust your instincts; everything is about your pooch or cat.

Training in Walks

A walker should have good training abilities to work with your pooch.  The first thing I do is try to make sure the dog responds to their name.  Without getting that initial attention, nothing else really can be done.

Training Tips

Make sure your pooch understands it's name.  Without a good attention getter, you can yell until you're blue in the face.  Initial attention is important before you try to do anything else.  Just because they know their name in the house, doesn't mean they know it everywhere else; teach them everywhere you go. more hints.
